“Ultimately, parents who homeschool children with special educational needs will find the most effective way to teach their child doesn’t come in a package.”

Peggy Ployhar

Founder/CEO

2021 Award Recipient for Top 100 Leaders in Education

Peggy Ployhar, SPED Homeschool Founder & CEO, is a physicist turned home educator who left a lucrative career in the medical device industry to teach the struggling learners in her own home after her oldest son’s diagnosis with Asperger Syndrome.

Peggy founded SPED Homeschool in 2017 after working for over a decade as a special needs homeschooling consultant and while home educating her own struggling learners. She now leads an organization that empowers thousands of families across the globe each year to teach their struggling learners at home.

Peggy is the former THSC (Texas Home School Coalition) Special Needs Team Lead, MACHE (Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators) Special Needs Coordinator and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Area Coordinator for MN, ND and SD. She is also certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors, and trained as a Precept Bible Study leader. (She is also very open about her own autistic tendencies and quirkiness.)

You can tune in every Tuesday evening LIVE on the SPED Homeschool Facebook page or YouTube channel to watch Peggy host Empowering Homeschool Conversations, a weekly talk show that focuses on homeschooling unique learners. Or, if you are interested in joining her bible study, check out her weekday podcast at Daily Revelations.

In her free time Peggy enjoys aerial silks, paddle boarding, vegan cooking, hiking and reading.

Peggy and her husband Doug live in League City, TX, where they still homeschool the youngest of their three children (24, 22, and 16) and she will be the first to admit that they definitely homeschool differently, but that approach over the past 19 years has led to many wonderful adventures as well as personal and family victories.
