Dawn is a homeschooling mom to her three children. She has a son in high school and twin daughters in junior high. She has been married to her husband David for 17 years. Dawn is the SPED Homeschool Teaching manager, a department coordinator of her local co-op, and has been a speaker for online and in person conferences. She has a passion for writing and has aspirations to become published.
Before becoming a homeschooling mom, Dawn worked as a teacher and special education teacher for 10 years. She taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade for 7 years, then was blessed to teach PPCD and children with Autism in an ABLE unit.
Dawn had written IEP goals for her students in public school and now she writes her daughter’s IEP goals at home. When she had her twins she became a stay at home mom as one of her daughter’s was diagnosed with multiple health and developmental delays. Also, through working with her daughter’s who have sensory issues, she learned how to adapt her curriculum towards a hands-on sensory approach.
Dawn is a gifted instructor who has the ability to bring out the teacher in everyone, especially showing parents how to modify curriculum to meet the specific learning needs of their child.
