MaxScholar Reading Intervention Program

MaxScholar is the digital solution for struggling readers. Our research-based program allows students to work on different reading skills in order to achieve their full reading potential and read at grade level, or above grade level. MaxScholar is a Comprehensive, Multisensory, Reading Program, designed to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing. it uses research-based materials to help students improve their reading skills.

Our Orton-Gillingham based MAXPHONICS program goes through the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic steps of this renowned method. Students learn the letters and their sounds, how to blend sounds into words, start to read, and develop fluency. Special emphasis has been put on the teaching of short vowels, which are 47% of reading. They then move on to blends and digraphs.

Then, our MAXWORD program, also based on the Orton-Gillingham method, will teach students about word roots, spelling rules, syllabication rules, as well as prefixes and suffixes. The different types of exercises in this program will help them expand vocabulary, improve syllabication, writing, and much more! Our MAXREADING program will teach the highlighting strategy which will help students with retention and comprehension. They will be able to do a self-check, and also improve their writing skills as they come up with outlines and summaries for the different texts they read. Then they have a reading comprehension test, and reinforce their vocabulary with different learning games!

Students have access to ALL the additional programs and games that will reinforce what is learned, as well as build on other important reading skills.

At the same time, parents will have access to reports in real time that will allow them to see their child’s usage, performance scores, struggle areas, etc. They will also have the option to adjust settings in order to customize what their child has access to.

What was the one thing that most impressed you about this curriculum?

This decades long tried and true, highly recognized and highly effective program, Orton Gillingham, has now been made available to anyone with a computer at a very affordable price! And all the grading and progress monitoring is done for you as well!
It is very well constructed and offers clear step by step help, for any learner with ELA challenges, placing your learner, through a pretest exactly where they need to start learning, while giving you as the parent all the tools you need to help your child be successful! You can sit them down and once they learn how the program works they can work away at it. If they are struggling or you want to do offline work with them you can print all the material they need to do practice on paper as well. You can sign up to be Orton Gillingham, trained too if you want!

What should parents of children with learning needs be aware of when looking into this curriculum?

Family discounts are available but you must Contact them for the form! You cannot purchase these through the website at discount. send note to. Patti at patti.maxscholar1@gmail.com.

It is intentionally slow and carefully scripted especially at the younger ages and stages, so when you go in, certain steps in the program will never let you skip even if you have seen them before. if you and your learner are prepared for that it will reduce frustration. The repetition is designed to imbed that thinking into learning. Some things do need to be repeated to get them settled in the mind. If your child has short term attention issues they may be frustrated, but the built in timing is necessary for instruction to be effective, so they may have to take this in smaller doses initially till they see success. The program is designed to allow you to do that with them. Also in the initial opening of sections it takes some time (up to 3-5 mins) to load the activity section. Be prepared to wait for that to be formatted. The free downloads that you get once you pay for your subscription cannot be seen in the free trial period.
