Ashly is a homeschooling mother of two and military spouse. She felt called to leave her teaching career to stay home and educate her own children when her oldest was diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. Advocating for Epilepsy Awareness is at the forefront of everything she does. Ashly feels very passionate about nurturing special needs sibling relationships. Sibling relationships are vital to therapy, family cohesion, and long term success.
As a military spouse she has seen the ins and outs of many different state educational programs and has a broad view of the supports and programming that is available to the special education community. Children shouldn’t be squished into a mold that doesn’t fit them, and we should be nurturing and educating children to create their own mold. Ashly is knowledgeable in the IEP process as both teacher and parent. During her time as a public school teacher she taught kindergarten and preschool. She then went on the open and operate her own preschool in the community. Along with Ashly’s teaching experience she also has spent time working with infant development as a Right Tracks evaluator for the state of North Dakota.
